Happy New Year!!
The New year has brought cold fronts to cool the Lagoon waters. Along with the cold fronts are strong
north west winds that blow the water out of the Lagoon. Low clean water means big schools of redfish. Some of these schools have upwards of 500 fish.
If you are lucky enough to find these schools you can have a day of fishing you will never forget!!
Some days these fish will eat anything you throw at them and some days they can be really stubborn. When using live bait I make sure to cast well in front of the school so they don't spook. Artificial baits are thrown past the school and either slowly worked in front of the school or if they are tailing then I bring the bait into the school and jig it slow.
Trophy trout are roaming the shallow sand spots as the sun comes up sunning themselves. A well placed cast with a live shrimp will get that gator trout's attention.
There is also an abundant amount of black drum from 4-25lb's around the Lagoon
This is a great time of the year to bend a rod and to get out in the Mosquito Lagoon and check out the abundant wildlife!!
Watching 3 Dolphin corralling a school of mullet is an awesome sight in clear shallow water...
Book your trip of a lifetime!!!
